Bremont Terra Nova Jumping Hour Watch, Now in Steel Bremont's iconic Terra Nova, with its jumping hour function, returns in steel.
Bremont boasts a line of rugged tool watches designed for adventures in the air, at sea, and on land. Bremont recently restructured under the leadership of Davide Cerrato, and the 2024 launch of the Terra Nova collection was a major initiative for the CEO. With its cushion-shaped case, vintage details, and exceptional legibility, the Terra Nova collection aims to capture the essence of military field watches of yesteryear. However, Bremont unexpectedly introduced two different versions of the Terra Nova Jumping Hours. The most unexpected of these is the 38mm Terra Nova Bronze Limited Edition, featuring a jumping hour display. The bronze version is now sold out and has been replaced by this new, non-limited edition in stainless steel.
A montre à guichet (a watch that uses a small aperture (guichet) instead of hands to read the time) is defined as a watch that uses a small aperture (guichet) instead of hands to read the time. Bremont's interpretation of the montre à guichet design made a stunning debut at Watches & Wonders 2025, though it's not the only competitor in this field. Cartier unveiled a new version of its iconic Tank à Guichets, while Louis Vuitton showcased its Tambour Convergence digital watch with jumping hours during LVMH Watch Week.
The most striking feature of the Terra Nova Jumping Hours watch is the protective cover on the dial. Like trench watches that rely on ballistic shields or metal grilles to protect the dial, Bremont's new Terra Nova watch features a brushed stainless steel cover on the dial with three display windows. The jumping hour display is positioned at noon, with the running seconds shown in a central circular window featuring Bremont's new Wayfinder compass logo and a black hand, and the minutes below. As with the bronze version, a sapphire crystal protects the display, and the dial features a white background with brown numerals.
Although the movement is concealed behind a sealed caseback, the precise and rapid jumps of the hour disc are a result of a jumping hour movement crafted exclusively for Bremont by Sellita. This custom-made BC634 caliber (backed by a two-year warranty) boasts high torque, ensuring a jump to the next digit in less than one-tenth of a second. Oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it is equipped with a Glucydur balance wheel, a Nivaflex mainspring, and an Anachron balance spring, and boasts a robust 56-hour power reserve.
